At nightfall it leaves Claude subscription plans for usage credits — promised to return, on a date not yet written.
A fable in six chapters
Thirty-three days from first light to nightfall.
Anthropic ships Claude Fable 5 — the first of the Claude 5 family, a Mythos-class model above Opus, and the most capable Claude generally available.
Three days after launch, a U.S. government directive suspends Fable 5 worldwide. The model goes dark.
The directive lifts. Anthropic begins redeploying Fable 5 globally, region by region.
Nightfall was set for this evening. Hours before the end, Anthropic extends Fable 5's stay on all paid plans by five more days — the 50% weekly usage cap unchanged.
At 11:59:59 pm Pacific, Fable 5 leaves the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans — where it was included for up to half of weekly usage limits — and moves to usage credits. Anthropic calls the move temporary, made while capacity catches up with demand.
Anthropic has committed to restoring Fable 5 as a standard subscription feature as soon as capacity allows. No date has been set. The page is blank, for now.
